Nevada Humanities presents 2nd Wednesday - The Natural Beauty of Poetry with City of Reno Poet Laureate Dustin Howard
The Natural Beauty of Poetry with City of Reno Poet Laureate Dustin Howard
This workshop will see poets explore concepts of nature and our relationship as humans with the natural world around us. The workshop will begin with readings of poems selected by the workshop leader to help inspire the group, followed by some pre-writing activities. Poets will then be given time to write quietly as they compose a poem. Poets who wish to share their work may then do so in the final part of the workshop. In this workshop, participants will learn helpful brainstorming and pre-writing skills that they can use later to continue practicing the art of poetry. This workshop is open to people of all skill levels.
Dustin Howard is the current City of Reno Poet Laureate and the Advancement Associate at Sage Ridge School in Reno, Nevada. He is the author of the supernatural thriller novel, Breakvale, and Engrams, his first collection of poetry.
Registration is strongly recommended. Space is limited and priority will be given to those who are registered.
