Three Weeks: The 1960 Winter Olympic Games and the Civil Rights Movement Film Screening and Discussion

Nevada was known as the Mississippi of the West, and it was in this context that the Squaw Valley Olympic Games became an impetus for change as it spotlighted civil rights activism to end discrimination in Reno Nevada. Geralda Miller, who is an extraordinary commentator of this film and executive director of Art Spot, wrote her master's thesis at the University of Nevada Reno.  The title of her thesis is: The Biggest Little Struggle: Black Activism in Reno, 1954 to 1965.  Join us for a screening of the film followed by a discussion with film director, Nancy O'Connell and Geralda Miller.
