A Thousand Miles of Desert and Mountains: A Prospecting Trip Across Nevada and Over the Sierras
The University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Reno offers a virtual exploration of a Special Collections and University Archives collection entitled "A Thousand Miles of Desert and Mountains."
The eight-week series, aimed at 4th through 7th graders but appropriate for all ages, will explore a series of three diaries written by two prospectors as they traveled across Nevada in search of the next big bonanza.
Join us for an introduction on Thursday, September 3 for a kick-off and to learn more about primary sources and the diaries involved in this series. Every week, a new episode will be released on Thursday, with supplemental materials released Tuesday prior to each episode.
Registration is not required, but is recommended to receive weekly emails containing links to available episodes and supplemental materials.
