We are excited to host the work of Amjad Hilles (Joud Galata). Join us for a reception to celebrate his work, on display at the Downtown Reno Library from August 10 through October 2.

Limbo is a series of work created by artist Amjad Hilles (Joud Galata). In his own words: "Limbo is a visual journey shaped by departure, distance, and the weight of unanswered questions ... Limbo is not a destination—it is a state of being."

Joud was raised in Gaza, Palestine, where he studied graphic design at Gaza University. He left Gaza in 2021 and lived and worked in many countries. Currently, Joud teaches at the University of Nevada, Reno in the Department of Art.

Limbo is a conversation with his past and present: his history; departures; travels; his family and his homeland; and the traumas, grief, and hope that are intertwined with them.
