Nevada Historical Society presents High Noon with Neal Cobb, a wonderful history series that delves into fascinating Nevada topics with local experts. Neal Cobb is a passionate historian and honorary curator for the Nevada Historical Society. He loves all things Nevada. Join Neal Cobb and our monthly speakers as we explore interesting topics and join in the audience conversations.

There are few better ways to learn about the state of Nevada than through experiencing it. Chris Orr has traveled throughout the Silver State as one of the co-hosts and producers of the award-earning PBS Reno television series, Wild Nevada. Having worked on more than 100 episodes during her 24 years at PBS Reno, she learned about the history and colorful character of Nevada by hiking, biking, driving and truly exploring it.

August Speaker: Chris Orr, Wild Nevada, PBS series

Chris Orr has been at PBS Reno, the PBS member station in Reno for more than 23 years. Orr is PBS Reno’s Director of Art and Digital Marketing and the co-host of the travel-adventure series Wild Nevada.

The award-winning Wild Nevada series, which features Orr and her co-host Dave Santina taking road trips and having adventures all around the Silver State. During her time at PBS Reno, Orr has developed multiple local-national websites, led numerous design projects, launched the station’s social media platforms, and become a familiar on-air personality for the station. She now leads a station team that develops and maintains the station’s online, social media and print branding.

Orr is a Nevada transplant but is proud to call Nevada home. She grew up in rural Idaho and moved to Reno with her family while she was in high school. She is an alum of the University of Nevada, Reno, and the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Since 2000, public television viewers in northern Nevada and across the nation have fallen in love with Wild Nevada, a program produced by PBS Reno that explores the history and geography of the Silver State; from the breathtaking Ruby Mountains and Red Rock Canyon to Walker Lake and Great Basin National Park, and hundreds more locations in-between. The Wild Nevada series began production on its seventh season and has more than 70 episodes in national distribution throughout the public television system.
