Dial H for Hitchcock Film Series - North by Northwest
Alfred Hitchcock is one of cinema’s most well-known and beloved directors and one whose films are endlessly imitated and parodied in other media. After directing silent and early sound films in his native England in the 1920s and 1930s, Hollywood came calling, and Hitchcock made his first American film, Rebecca, in 1940. It was a success and kicked off a career in the United States that produced a string of stylish, suspenseful films crafted with his signature touches. Come join us as we look at some of his best-known films, starting with Rebecca and ending with his last commercial success, The Birds. These movies also feature some of the silver screen’s biggest stars, including Joan Fontaine, Laurence Olivier, Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, Robert Walker, James Stewart, Kim Novak, Janet Leigh, and Tippi Hedren. Each film will be introduced by staff, and followed by a brief discussion.
