Understanding Systemic Racism and White Supremacy in the United States

This talk traces the history of laws and policies that created and enforced racial inequality in the United States from the colonial era to the present. Professor Greta de Jong will explain how racist social structures and ideas about white supremacy were intertwined and reinforced each other, and why this history is essential for understanding and addressing racial injustice today.
