The University Gateway Houses: A History and Update on the Relocated Survivors

This program will introduce you to the earliest properties in the University Neighborhood. Hear about their long, colorful histories and the significant residents who made their homes in this charming community at the foot of the University Gates. All but four of the homes were demolished in 2018 to make way for additional university buildings; with the exception of a parking garage, the remainder of the area is currently undeveloped dirt lots.

March Speaker: Debbie Hinman

Debbie Hinman is a Reno native and UNR graduate. Always drawn to the history of her hometown, for the past 20+ years she has been involved with Historic Reno Preservation Society (HRPS) as a tour guide, researcher and writer for the organization's quarterly publication, and is Vice President of the HRPS Board of Directors. Debbie is also Chair of the City of Reno's Historical Resources Commission.
