Washoe County Library System is excited to offer free access to the 2018 TEDx event at the University of Nevada Reno. For more information about the 2018 event, please visit tedxuniversityofnevada.org/events/tedxuniversityofnevada-2018/.

The event is all day, from 8am to 4pm. Sessions are 90 minutes with 20 minute breaks between sessions

  • There are 2 sessions before lunch, 1 session after lunch.
  • All sessions will start at the scheduled time.
  • If a session ends early, the scheduled break will start early AND end early
  • If a session runs long, we will adjust the start of the next session so we can continue to allow a 20 minute break or 1 hour lunch.
  • Free parking on Saturday is available at the Liberty Center Garage at the northeast corner of Ryland and Center Streets or in the Washoe County parking lot on Court Street between Virginia and Sierra.
  • Lunch is not provided during the event at the Downtown Reno Library. Bring a lunch to enjoy in our garden, or find nearby restaurants using the "Parking & Places of Interest" map available at washoecountylibrary.us/libraries/downtown-reno.php.

  • Dr. Julie A. Hogan is an associate professor at the University of Nevada Reno’s College of Business. Hogan earned her doctoral degree at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in Sociology. She earned her master’s degree at the University of California Chico when Pioneer Days (a university sanctioned week long alcohol and drug party) was broadcast on MTV. She has spent 30 years in the substance abuse prevention field, has amassed a whopping 38 million dollars in grants and contracts, and has three textbook publications. https://tedxuniversityofnevada.org/speakers/julie-hogan/
  • Joe Sabini has lived in Reno, Nevada for his whole life. After graduating at Reno High School, he has gone on to attend the University of Nevada, Reno. He is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in the College of Business. Joe brings humor and thoughtfulness to all aspects in his life. In his free time, he finds passion in music and live productions. He is currently the lighting designer at Grace Church Reno and has played music all over the United States, including Carnegie Hall.   • Daniel Price, CEO of Breadware. Price leads the Reno-based electronics design and sourcing company that partners with organizations to help them launch new IoT (Internet of Things) products. https://tedxuniversityofnevada.org/speakers/daniel-price/
  • Christine Porath is the author of Mastering Civility: A Manifesto for the Workplace and co-author of The Cost of Bad Behavior.   • Marianne Cooper is a sociologist at the Clayman Institute for Gender Research and the Center for the Advancement of Women’s Leadership at Stanford University. She is also an affiliate at the Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality. She was the lead researcher for Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg.   • Mariana Atencio is a Peabody-Award winning journalist and news personality working for MSNBC and NBC News, where she covers domestic and international issues doing breaking news and special reports. The Huffington Post called her “our Latina Christiane Amanpour” and one of the top Latinas in American Newsrooms, making the rare “crossover from Spanish to English television.” In 2017, she gave a TEDx Talk about the search for humanity, tolerance and inclusiveness in our world that has been seen by more than a million people.
